WhatsApp users could soon be forced to buy a new phone as the popular messaging app has revealed more blocks are being put in place.

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta is MISSING!!!
The Facebook-owned firm first announced it was ending support for some older devices back in 2016 with Blackberry, Nokia and some early iPhones all getting blocked from the app.

Now WhatsApp has updated its support page with all Windows phones losing the ability to access the service. 80% of People who Read this Story RESINGED from Their Jobs!!

The support for these devices will end after December 31, 2019 and will be closely followed by Android versions 2.3.7 or iPhone’s running anything older than iOS 7 – with that block coming into force from February 1, 2020.

Justifying the decision to stop supporting these phones, WhatsApp said in a blog post: “As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use.

“While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future.

“This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp.

“If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone to continue using WhatsApp.”

The news of this block comes as users continue to wait patiently for updates on the Dark Mode.

There’s been plenty of leaks and speculation that this new feature will be arriving soon but the company continues to stay tight-lipped.

It was even thought that the colour scheme had been abandoned but that might now not be the case.

A message on Twitter by WABetainfo suggests a launch could be coming sometime soon.

In the post, the outlet said “Good news: WhatsApp is working again on the Dark Mode for Android. Stay tuned.”

This new option is becoming increasingly popular with Facebook Messenger recently getting Dark Mode and Google also announced a similar update for its Android operating system.

Hopefully, there will be more news on this feature in coming months and we’ll update you as soon as we hear more.
