Muchemi built a one-kilometre road connecting the locals to Kaganda shopping centre after the one they were using was blocked by the land owner.

Armed with a jembe, spade, axe and a water jerrican, Muchemi worked for hours to save locals from their long trips to the shopping centre.

“I had made desperate appeals to the local leaders to have the road built but all in vain.


“It was then that I decided to build it using my farm tools for the sake of women and children and to save time,” he said.

Locals are now full of praise for Muchemi whose selfless act has benefited many. Josephine Wairimu, an elderly woman in the area said she had to stop going to church due to inaccessibility but thanks to Muchemi, the distance is now shorter and she will resume.
