Police on Sunday arrested a man and his wife who were found in possession of 330 bags of sugar stolen from a lorry that was hijacked in Nyakach, Kisumu County.

The consignment was being transported from Sony Sugar Company to Oyugis before the vehicle was intercepted by a gang of armed robbers.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested the man and his wife at Mamboleo market where the stolen sugar was found in their store.

The officers also arrested loaders who were found offloading the sugar into the store and a driver of the lorry that was used to ferry the stolen sugar.

A manhunt for the suspected killers is still underway.
