It has been a relatively good year for East African celebrities in as far as the business of making making money is concered.

But for some of them, their private lives have been far from rosy.

Nairobi News takes a look at celebs who parted ways with their partners in 2018

1. Diamond Platnumz and Zari Hassan

After about four years of dating, Ugandan socialite Zari decided to end her relationship with the Tanzanian heartthrob on Valentine’s Day February 14, 2018. Zari dumped the father of two of his five kids just weeks after he confessed to cheating on her and fathering a son with video vixen Hamisa Mobetto. Zari complained that even after forgiving Diamond for his infidelity, he continued in his cheating ways.

2. Diamond and Hamisa Mobetto

After splitting with Zari, Diamond got the perfect chance to carry on from where he had left it with Hamisa. Their love affair was however short-lived with Diamond accusing Hamisa of using witchcraft to lure him into marriage following a leaked video in which the vixen was captured allegedly consulting a witch doctor. The Tanzanian crooner, who is clearly in hot demand among his female fans, is presently dating Kenyan radio presenter Tanasha Donna.

3. Nyce Njeri and Titus Wagitho

After nine years of marriage, former Auntie Boss actress Nyce and her hubby went their separate ways in November. The actresses hubby made the revelation on Facebook post but later deleted the post. In the post, Titus, who is also an actor, complained that his ex-wife’s successful career had gotten into her head.

4. Jibril Blessing and Chantelle

After rumors of their breakup swindled for weeks, video producer J Blessing finally broke his silence confirming he had parted ways with the Tokelezea hitmaker and actress Chantelle. The two, who been been together for five years, broke up last year but kept having an on and off relationship until they finally decided to kill the vibe once and for all.

5. Otile Brown and Vera Sidika

After seven months of dating, the singer had a nasty break up with the socialite which they both spared no effort in broadcasting to the whole world on social media. Most their fans are convinced the affair was purely a publicity stunt, although Vera insists her love for Otile was genuine. She however alleges that the singer was out to use her and later dump her.

6. Khaligraph Jones and Kush Tracey

Following the release of their hit collabo Micasa Sucasa in 2016, the two rappers had been touted as the next power couple in Kenyan showbiz. However, after a five-year relationship, their love turned sour sometime in April this year.

7. Dogo Aslay and Tessy Chocolate

The bongo flava star split up with his baby mama Tessy Chocolate this year. It’s all the year their popular band Yamoto Band also split. According to the singer, they arrived at a mutual agreement to separate since things were not working out for them. However, they continue to co-parent their daughter.

8. Chipukeezy and Vivian Kerubo

The two were set to tie the knot sometime this year after three years of courtship but they kept postponing the dates. Finally, in November they called it quits, a decision the comedian termed as mutual.
